Frequently Asked Questions
What does it cost per square foot to build a luxury custom home?
It depends. Because every home we build is one-of-a-kind, there isn’t a standard cost per square foot. The biggest factors that impact pricing include your lot conditions, the size of the home, and the level of finishes you choose.
If you have a general budget in mind, we’re happy to guide you through what’s possible. When we’re brought into the process early (before or during plan design), we can provide ballpark estimates to help you plan. Once we receive your engineered construction drawings and specifications, we’ll put together a detailed, accurate bid that reflects your exact vision.
How long does it take to build a high-end custom home?
The construction timeline can vary, mostly based on the size and complexity of the home. Once we have your engineered drawings, we’ll create a personalized schedule that outlines each stage clearly. You’ll know what to expect and when to expect it.
How soon can construction start?
Plan design is the biggest variable here. We don’t do architectural design in-house, but most clients spend about 3–6 months working with their designer or architect. Once we receive the final plans, it typically takes 4–6 weeks for us to bid the project.
After the bid is approved and contracts are signed, we submit documents for city permitting and financing. From receiving your plans to breaking ground, most projects move forward within 2–3 months (depending on your municipality and lender).
Is there a waitlist to build with Havenhill?
Nope! We’re currently able to take on more custom home projects and begin work as soon as you’re ready. We start projects in the order they’re ready to move forward.
How does communication work during the build?
We use Buildertrend, a construction management platform that keeps everything organized and accessible. Each project is assigned a dedicated Havenhill Project Manager who visits the site daily and uploads photos and notes to your personal dashboard.
You’ll also receive weekly email updates outlining what happened the previous week, what’s coming up, and any decisions that need to be made soon. On-site meetings are scheduled throughout the build so we can check in on progress together and make sure everything is lining up with your expectations.
